Bathers with a Toy Boat depicts a group of biomorphic figures on a beach, their bodies transformed into abstract, bone-like forms that seem simultaneously playful and threatening. A toy boat floats in the background, adding a note of childhood innocence to the otherwise unsettling scene. The painting is one of the most complex and ambitious of Picasso's beach paintings.
